I'd like a stand alone XM in my room, that'd be nifty.

I've got it! I love XM14, XM74, and XM121, and XM164!

Post 6 by krisme (Ancient Zoner) on Saturday, 01-Jan-2005 12:01:21

I want one of those. My friend just got one and it's so cool, so I'm saying to my parents it might make a good 18th birthday/graduation present. They're worried I'll listen to so much that I won't study.

Post 7 by coasterfreak88 (The coaster freak is here.) on Saturday, 01-Jan-2005 14:55:58

You have no idea how much one costs. I had to pay 306 dollars for a boom box!

Post 8 by Jesse (Hmm!) on Saturday, 01-Jan-2005 21:38:04

I paid $200 for the boom box.

I've got the XM PCR, now discontinued in some forms, but you might be able to find one on Ebay if a person is willing to part with it. Not likley since they're a rarity thanks to the stupid recording industry. They found out there was software that you could record xm programming on and they got all panicky. As for channels, looks like I'm the only rock/pop listener to post here s far. In the hits category, I like Top 20, Kiss sometimes, and The Mix. In rock I like Da Bone Yard 41, Liquid Metal 42, and SquiZZ 48. I also subscribe to Opie and Anthony for $1.99 extra a month. Not a whole lot of Opie and Anthony fans out there around here I know of, but if you'd like to get an idea of what they sound like, Go here. They're not for everyone but if you like humor and aren't easily offended, check 'em out. XM rules!

Guess I can't post actual html links here. Woops. anyways, the link to the site I was refering to is: http://www.oavirus.com, give it a look and it'll give you an excellent idea of what Opie and Anthony are like.

They had a Free Play for us standard members for the first week of December. That means we all got that channel free for one week. Man they're pretty radical.

Post 12 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 02-Jan-2005 16:39:11

I heard on the radio that you can get some XM pluggin for any boom box, stereo, car radio, etc, for a pretty good price, I don't remember I think it was like 100 bucks or something!

Yes, that new XM component tuner looks cool. The one I might buy to go with my boom box is a Walkman. They're making XM Walkman radios now!

O and A on 202, absolutely love them too! radical is good, as long as nobody gets hurt without their consent. I don't like *everything* they do, but that's the way I feel even with bands I love, so that's just typical of me. I also like the comedy channels 150 and 151, and the rock stations in the 40s and 50s. I'm by no means religious, but some of the stuff on 31, the Christian station, is good too. ou can check them out and get a three-day free trial online.

Post 19 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 06-Feb-2005 23:30:06

Hmmm the walkman's buggy? That's not cool...still must check out the site. I'd love to have an XM doohickey though. Is there any way you could put XM on your computer, i think there is right? Y'all were talking about it on QN's.

Channel 164 is the awesomest channel ever--yes, OTR 24/7!!!!!! yay for all things OTRIsh. I like the 50's, and 60's channel, some stuff ont he 70's too. Channel 23 is right pretty sometimes. I like um--what is the Starbucks channel?
And the classic country channel. By far, the Christian stuff, the classic country channel, and 164 are my favorites.

I was just looking back through the posts in this topic and noticed that I'd written one about a year ago saying I was trying to persuade my parents to get me XM as a birthday/graduation present. Well, it's been a year since then and they finally caved in. I'll be getting it for my 19th birthday!! I ordered the radio itself last Sunday and can't wait for it to get here so I can finally activate. I'm looking forward to all the music channels and not having to worry about missing the Mets game while I'm away from home since XM carries all the Major League baseball games!

Post 23 by motifated (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 25-May-2006 3:31:01

Well, I've been an XM listner for almost two years. Nice tolistento whatever kind of music you want without commercials. We klive in Maryland.. (This sounds like a post I did to another topic awhile back.) When my inlaws who live in Florida were being hit with hurricanes in '05, We would listen to CNN or the Traffic and Weather channels for various cities, and pass the info we learned on to them. We have two receivers, the boombox, and the Roady 2 for the car. If you look at Best Buys or Walmart, you can do pretty well pricewise on the Delphi units.

Post 24 by Leafs Fan (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 25-May-2006 8:46:10

I love XM. I have been a subscriber since the end of 2005. I love the hockey and baseball, along with many of the music channels, most of all. Over and above that, though, I love being able to listen to whatever type of programming I am in the mood for at any given time!

Post 25 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 31-May-2006 22:34:13

I don't own one of these. My girlfriend does and my favorite channels are 08, 09, 20, 21, 22, 30, 62, 63, 65, 66, 67, and 68

Post 26 by krisme (Ancient Zoner) on Thursday, 01-Jun-2006 19:55:35

I got my XM radio (finally) on Saturday and have become addicted very quickly. So far my favorite channels are 9, 26, 28, 44, 54 (which I'm listening to now), 162, 202 (gotta love O and A) and whichever channel the Mets are on. I haven't gotten to hear any of the live stuff they have on yet but they have a few interesting-sounding concerts coming up I'll probably check out.

Word of warning! If for some reason you're tempted to buy an Audiophase skybox on ebay, don't!

Biggest piece of shit I ever had. Let's say that the left channel on the amplifier died in less than a year, and the right channel began to sound like crap. It's construction is plastic and crap, yet it was one of the more stirty XM boomboxes in its day. It's nearfield sound was okay, yet it's midrange going any farther from a few feet lieves something to be desired. Regarding the lyability, I suspect that this applys to GPX, Audiovox, Delphy, and jenson. If you can afford it, your pioneer stuff is your best bet.

I've had Xm for a little over 2 years. I really like the rock channels like Ethel, Squiz, Liquid Metal 42, and I like channel 202, 166, 168, 9, and just about everything they've got. Also, the baseball channels are great. Oh, and I can't wait for college football to start in the 190s! Oh, and Caitlin, you might have already found it, but the URL is www.xmradio.com, so you were right.
